Our first-ever regional Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) conference took place on June 18th and 19th. Teachers from Elk, Cameron, Potter and McKean counties were invited to Cameron County High School for the inaugural STEM Conference for Teachers. Local educators and business professionals led many of the breakout sessions in this two-day long conference, which featured a business and industry panel discussion and a presentation by Dr. Hod Lipson. Dr. Lipson discussed the future of of 3-D printing technology, and its effects on everyday life.
The Conference had a number of breakout sessions that showcased STEM-related projects and learning experiences from the region. Some of the breakout sessions included in the STEM Conference were "STEM Lab", "Going Backwards to go Forward", "Science in Motion", "3R's: Recycling, Rocket Science and Rework", and "Steampunk and Entomology".
